Fire Hydrant Testing

The Oelwein Utility Department will be conducting fire hydrant testing to update fire flow information.    fire hydrant

This testing will begin the week of May 15 and carry on throughout the summer.  This process will be less disruptive than the actual hydrant flushing however, you may still experience issues with rusty water or low pressure during this time.

Testing will occur between 7:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday as work load permits.  We will follow the biannual hydrant flushing areas starting in the following sections:

Northwest North of 2nd Street from 4th Avenue to North Frederick.  This does not include residents along 2nd Street.

Northeast North of 3rd Street from North Frederick to Outer Road and East of 3rd Avenue from Charles to 9th Street.  This does include residents along 3rd Street but does not include residents along 3rd Avenue.

Southeast East of 3rd Avenue from Charles to 7th Street.  This does not include residents along 3rd Avenue.

Once this area is completed we will post the new area testing will be conducted.  We appreciate your patience during this on-going process.
