Fire Hydrant Testing

The Oelwein Utility Department is continuing the hydrant testing to update fire flow information.  We have completed the first area of hydrants.   fire hydrant

We are following our biannual hydrant flushing thus we will be in the folowing areas:

Northwest From 13th Avenue to the viaduct and south of 2nd Street from 4th Avenue to North Frederick.  This includes residents of 2nd Street.

Northeast South of 3rd Street from North Frederick to 3rd Avenue and west of 3rd Avenue from 3rd Street to Charles.  This does not include residents along 3rd Street but does include residents along 3rd Avenue.

Southeast West of 3rd Avenue from Charles to Highway 281.  This does include residents along 3rd Avenue.

Southwest  All areas.

Testing will occur between 7:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday as workload permits.  This process is less disruptive than the actual hydrant flushing.  However you may still experience issues with rusty water or low pressure during this time.  The testing may take several months to complete so we appreciate your patience during this ongoing process.
